Alice Skrutsky, 93, of Stratford passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Bridgeport Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Francis C. Skrutsky, having been married for 53 years. Alice was born in Bridgeport on May 11, 1921 to the late Peter and Tillie Klymash. She graduated from Harding High School and Booth Bayliss Business School. She was employed by the Remington Arms Co. over two periods, first during WWII as a bullet packer and inspector, and again during the 70's as a switchboard operator and as an office secretary. She also worked at Bullard Havens High School and several local businesses at various times. Alice's favorite pastime was getting dressed up to go polka dancing, and she and Frank religiously attended all dance events in the area. She also loved to cook and enjoyed gardening. She dedicated her life to the wellbeing of her husband and children, and was always more concerned for them over her own needs. Alice was predeceased by her sister, Mary and her husband Stephen Sekelsky, also of Stratford. She is survived by three children, Robert J. Skrutsky and his wife Judy of Stratford, Rita S. Dwyer and her husband Sean of Summerfield North Carolina, and Thomas M. Skrutsky and his wife Robin of Watertown, CT., two grandchildren, John M. Dwyer III and Jennifer Halverson, one great grandchild, Emma Halverson, and numerous cousins. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 9th at 11 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
