Alexandra Mary (Adzima) Semanchik was born on June 19, 1950, to Alexander and Helen (Wasco) Adzima in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was the loving wife of Donald Semanchik.
Alix, as she was known, graduated from Warren Harding School and the University of Bridgeport with a BS in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career at Stony Brook School in Stratford teaching 1st grade. After raising her children, she began teaching at Helen King Reynolds Private School where she later became the owner and director of the pre-school. Alix was co-president of Eli Whitney PTA and Wooster Middle School. While director of HKR, she was Co-Chairmen of the Stratford Early Childhood Resource Council.
Alix was extremely involved with her church being a Sunday School teacher, advisor to the youth group, and president and secretary of the “R “Club. She was instrumental in organizing members of St. John’s Church to volunteer to serve meals at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. She found great joy in traveling and creating lasting memories with her beloved grandchildren, who affectionately called her Mimi, as they were the light of her life.
In addition to her beloved husband, Alix is survived by, her daughter, Mary Hall and her husband Chuck and their 2 daughters, Caroline and Emily all of Trumbull and her son, David and his wife Nicole, and their daughters, Vera, Harper and Maura all of Milford. She also leaves a brother, Gary Adzima and his wife Carole, of Fairfield, a sister-in-law, Eleanor Adzima of Stratford, a sister-in-law, Karen Golojuch and her husband, Tom of Arlington, VA and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Alix is also survived by three very close friends: Kathie Cepetelli, Irene Forizs and Susan Richardson.
Visitation on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, with a Panachida service at 4:30 p.m. All other services will be private.
