Alexander "Alex" James Kozak, age 39, of Stratford died Saturday, January 28, 2006 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Norwalk to James D Kozak and the late Charlotte Thorne Kozak, Alex grew up in Bridgeport and has live in Stratford for the past 15 years. He was a graduate of Bassick High School and Sacred Heart University and worked at Hill Health Care Center in New Haven as a Grant Specialist. Alex worked on countless numbers of political campaigns. He was the Republican Deputy Registrar of Voters for the Town of Stratford. He was a member of the Stratford Republican Town Committee, the Zoning Commission and secretary to the commission, the Republican National Committee, the Connecticut Republicans, a Justice of the Peace and Notary of the Public, a member of the Registrar of Voter Association of Connecticut and represented the Stratford Delegation to the 2004 Inauguration of President George W. Bush. He was also the Executive Director of the Fairco Duckpin Bowling League and a member of the American Legion Post 12, an Eagle Scout and the Venturing Crew 68 (BSA) of Trumbull. He was a former member of the Stratford Planning Commission and an alternate on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Survivors include his father James D. Kozak of Bethany; 2 brothers Wayne Kozak of Bethany and Austin Kozak of Milford; a uncle Raymond Kozak and his wife Susan of Washington Depot; an aunt Jean Carpenter and her husband John of Brookfield; several cousins and a beloved godson Daniel DeCilio of Stratford. Alex was pre-deceased by his mother Charlotte Thorne Kozak and his grandparents that were dear to his heart Harold and Sophie Sala. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday February 1, 2006 at 10:00 (DIRECTLY) in St. Ann's Church Brewster Street in Black Rock with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 pm.
