Albert G. Kollar, age 72 of Stratford passed away on Monday March 10, 2008 in his home. Albert, a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army, was born in Bridgeport to the late Peter and Anna (Knapick) Kollar and has been a life long area resident. He was a graduate of Bridgeport Engineering Institute and was a retired Metallurgist Engineer for Olin Research Lab. Albert was a member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport where he was one of the original Altar Boys and was a member of their Seniors, he was also a member of Ansantawae Masonic Lodge # 89 AF & AM in Milford, and the Pyramid Temple. He was a former coach for Shelton South Little League, Shelton Flag Football, and Shelton Biddy Basketball. Survivors include his beloved wife Irene French Kollar, his devoted children Michael and his wife Lisa of Naugatuck, Albert and his wife Suzanne and Mark and his wife Denise all of Florida, Katherine Noyes and her husband Glen of Shelton and Donna Kollar of Hawaii 12 grandchildren Jessica, Mathew, Samuel, Hannah, Nathan, Jillian, Braden, Calista, Owen, Sarah, Josh and Christopher, his Goddaughter Laura Bashar and her husband Peter of Stratford, a sister-in-law Lois Erdos and her husband Joseph of Stratford, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by 2 brothers Cornelius and Andrew S. Kollar, a nephew Andrew C, and a niece Leanne. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 15th at 8:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 9 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment w ill be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida at 4:30 p.m.
