Agnes Varonko Powichrowski, age 96, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Edward J. Powichrowski, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 in Lord Chamberlain HCC, Stratford. Mrs. Powichrowski, a retired clerk for Gimbel's Department Store was born in Throop, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Mary (Ezepczik) Varonko and has been a long time area resident. She enjoyed baking, sewing, and ceramics, and loved to Polka Dance with her late husband. Agnes was a member of the Baldwin Center and the Dresser Retirees. Survivors include her beloved children Diane Foster and her husband Patrick of Milford, and Edward Powers of Stratford, 4 cherished granddaughters Caitlin Foster, Elissa Powers, Emily DiBiaso, and Erica Sanford, 3 great-grandchildren Senora DiBiaso, and Ethan and Sadie Sanford, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Agnes was pre-deceased by her sister Lena Perkowski, and brothers Victor, Benjamin, and Joseph Voronko, Michael Varanka, Nicholas Veranko. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 30th at 10:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11 a.m. in Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
