Obituary

Agnes T. Bensko, 89, of Queensbury, NY, formerly of Stratford, CT, died on
Wednesday, July 22, 2009 with her daughters at her side.
Born on February 10, 1920, in Humboldt, PA the sixth of eleven children of
Anna Honis and John Velky, she married Joseph Bensko on June 25, 1938 at St.
Joseph Church, Hazleton, PA and moved to Bridgeport, CT in 1941.
Agnes was a 1937 graduate of HazleTownship High School and prior to her
marriage, worked at Philadelphia Lying In Hospital. After her marriage, she
worked in Bridgeport, CT at Remington Arms, Parke-Davis, and retired from
General Electric after 23 years. She was a prolific gardener who shared her bounty with her neighbors, had a wonderful sense of humor that never failed her and loved playing Bingo with her friends at The Terrace. Most of all, Agnes will be remembered for
sharing her life experiences with her family and friends.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, on June 20, 2000, and her
siblings, John Velky, Michael Velky, Anna Gallagher, Mary Kuzmission, and
Helen Gasper. Also her sisters-in-law, Mary Kowalsky, Anne Antonelli,
Elizabeth Lesczyna, and Susan Bludnicki. She is survived by her three daughters, Jo Ann Koller and her husband Charles of Stratford, CT; Mary Palacino and her husband Vincent of Glens Falls, NY and Julie Bensko and her husband Jerry Bolton of San Marcos, TX. She leaves nine grandchildren Paula Panella and her husband Thomas of Bow, NH; Michael Koller and his wife Joan of Shelton, CT; Mark Koller and his wife Doreen, of Ansonia, CT; James Palacino and his wife Suzanne of Wellesley, MA; Catherine Deck and her husband John of Glens Falls, NY;
Aurora Bensko of Sanmarcos, TX; Dagmar Duncan of SanMarcos, TX Peter Bensko; and Beatrice Bensko of South Carolina. Also surviving are14great-grandchildren: Timothy and Stephen Panella; Aimee and Michael Koller;
Joseph and Matthew Koller; Nicole and Tara Palacino; Sarah and Rachel Deck;
Isis, Rainee and Nasreen Bensko and Sofia Duncan. Also surviving Agnes are her brothers, Dr. Joseph Velky and his wife ,Jean, of Catonsville, MD; Edward Velky and his wife Dorothy, of North Augusta, SC; and Leonard Velky, of Harwood, PA; and her sisters, Elizabeth Gido ,of Shrewsbury, PA and Irene Salata, of Hazleton, PA. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Susan Velky of Niagara Falls, NY; Agnes Kodz of Shelton, CT; Dorothy Danielczuk and her husband Stanley of Bridgeport, CT; and Martha Radwill and her husband Al of Shelton, CT. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend, Dottie Brewster Wilder of Arizona. Funeral service will take place on Monday July 27, 2009 at 9 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 am in St. Mark Roman Catholic Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St.Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN, The Salvation Army or the charity of donors choice. The family wishes to thank her caregivers at The Terrace Assisted Living (Queensbury, NY), the staff of High Peaks Hospice (Queensbury, NY) and her companions for their exceptional care and compassion.
